Why TikTok takes up a lot of space

The TikTok app can start to take up a lot of space on your smartphone, causing inconvenience to the user. Below we will tell you why this happens and how to solve the problem.

The TikTok app itself weighs about 286.3 MB. But over time, it can start to take up more and more memory. TikTok includes many add-ons, namely filters, masks, sticker effects, and music. Separately from each other, these add-ons take up a small amount of memory. But if there are many of them, they will take up much more space.

Such additions accumulate in memory. It turns out that the more clips you shoot, the less memory is left on your device.

In order to fix this, you need to clear the cache inside the app. This will free up some memory and TikTok will stop taking up so much space.

How to clear the cache in TikTok:

  1. Open the TikTok app;
  2. Go to your profile page;
  3. Click on the three horizontal bars (top right);
  4. Select Settings and Privacy;
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the list that opens;
  6. Select Clear cache;
  7. Wait until the numbers show zeros.

Important: Your videos in your account will not be lost. Only unnecessary internal files that prevented your smartphone from working properly will be deleted.

Thus, you will delete all unnecessary downloads that took up a lot of memory on your smartphone. Do not forget to regularly log in and clean the cache in TikTok to get rid of unnecessary load on the operating system of your device.
